Indian benchmark indices closed largely unchanged on July 13, supported by strong buying in IT and auto stocks. The Nifty 50 settled at 24,211, while the Sensex ended at 77,564. The Nifty IT index was the top gainer, rising 3.59%.

Room air-conditioner sales surged 40% in Q1FY27 on heatwaves and a delayed monsoon, with Voltas crossing 1 million units in record time. But rising input costs and Bureau of Energy Efficiency-linked price hikes of 5-12% threaten to erode margins even as premium demand stays resilient.

Addressing shareholders of the leading cooling products maker in its 72nd annual general meeting (AGM), Noel Tata, 69, said this would be his last AGM as Chairman of Voltas.

Voltas share price opened at ₹ 1,384 apiece today, as compared to previous close of ₹ 1,343 on Friday last week. Tata Group stock touched an intraday high of ₹ 1,412 per share on 22 June.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex closed 0.14% and 0.03% higher at 23,396 and 74,368, respectively. The broader market, however, outperformed the benchmark indices, with both the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices rising 0.43% and 0.52%, respectively.

Indian stocks marginally gained on May 18, driven by strong tech buying and pharma support, with Nifty 50 up 0.03% at 23,649 and BSE Sensex at 75,263. However, the broader market faced pressure as Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 fell.

On May 15, Indian markets declined, with Nifty down 0.18% and Sensex down 0.25%. Selling in financial and metal stocks offset IT sector gains. The rupee hit a record low of 96.5 against the dollar, influenced by foreign investor withdrawals and rising crude oil prices.
